Traditionally, Lent has been a season where believers “give something up.”
Chocolate. Social media. Coffee. Sweets.

And while sacrifice has always been part of the Christian journey, Lent was never meant to be about temporary deprivation. It was meant to be about deep transformation.

In Scripture, the number forty is never casual.

+For forty days, rain fell and God reset the earth.
+For forty years, Israel wandered and unlearned slavery.
+For forty days, Moses met with God and received identity.
+For forty days, Jesus entered the wilderness and defeated temptation before beginning His public ministry.

Forty is not about losing something. Forty is about becoming someone.

This year, we are entering Lent differently.

Instead of simply “giving something up,” we are engaging in what we are calling:

The 40-Day Exchange

An intentional season of trading what weakens us for what builds us.

Trading distraction for devotion.
Trading impulse for discipline.
Trading noise for intimacy.
Trading habits for holiness.

Lent is not punishment. It is preparation.

The wilderness was not where Jesus lost power.
It is where He clarified purpose.

Over these forty days, we will walk through four intentional movements:

Release — Let go of what has been forming you that God did not send.
Reorder — Realign your schedule and structure with your spiritual priorities.
Remove — Eliminate the patterns that are dulling your sensitivity to God.
Rebuild — Construct habits that reflect who you are becoming.

Revive —   What needs to come back to life?

This is not about religious performance. This is about spiritual formation.

We believe that resurrection power is not just something we celebrate on Easter Sunday but it is something we prepare for in the wilderness.

By the time we arrive at Easter, our prayer is not simply that we attended church more.

Our prayer is that we are different.
More focused.
More disciplined.
More surrendered.
More alive.

Welcome to The 40-Day Exchange.

What are you willing to trade for transformation?

Below are 30 practical examples for each of the first four movements of The 40-Day Exchange

As we enter this 40-Day Exchange, I want you to understand something clearly:This is not about proving anything to God.It is about positioning yourself before God.

Lent has never been about religious optics. It has always been about spiritual alignment.

We are not engaging this season to appear disciplined. We are engaging this season to become devoted.

Some of us need to release what we have been clinging to.

Some of us need to reorder what has been out of priority.

Some of us need to remove what has quietly weakened us.

Some of us need to rebuild what we have allowed to erode.

And all of us need revival.

The wilderness is not where you lose. It is where you are refined.

These forty days are not about perfection. They are about intention. There will be moments when you feel stretched. Moments when you feel uncomfortable. Moments when you realize how much certain habits had a hold on you.

Do not be discouraged.Conviction is not condemnation.

It is invitation.

Invitation to grow.

Invitation to deepen.

Invitation to come alive again.

When we arrive at Easter, my prayer is not simply that we celebrate the resurrection of Christ. My prayer is that we experience resurrection in ourselves. That relationships feel stronger. That prayer feels deeper. That distractions feel weaker. That faith feels steadier. That purpose feels clearer.

We are not just observing a season. We are embracing formation.

Let this be the year you do not just give something up. Let this be the year you trade what weakens you for what builds you. Let this be the year you walk into resurrection ready.

Grace and peace,

Dr. Ju
